Over 2,000 players. A €1m prize pool. Four VIP player parties. The friendliest poker festival in Europe.
The PokerListings Battle of Malta will return for a fifth edition in 2016 and, like those before, expects to set a new level of success for low buy-in poker tournaments.
Official dates are now set for November 2-7 and include three Day 1 flights, an expanded lineup of side events and a special final-table reserved for the final day.
Details are still be fine-tuned but it's not too early to begin travel preparations for the best poker holiday festival on the continent.
Top Three Pocket Over €100k Each
What began in 2012 as a 342-player freezeout has evolved into a massive poker festival with a record-setting 1,804 runners in the main event last year.
Over €875,000 flowed into the Main Event prize pool and each of the top three players left with more than €100k including 2015 champion Nicholas Proust from France.
The Battle of Malta – named best tournament in Europe under $2,000 buy-in at the European Poker Awards – is aimed at recreational players but plenty of pros have discovered the event, too.
Apart from several great poker tournaments the BOM also offers the unique experience of a poker holiday in the Mediterranean, away from the meteorological misery that is Europe in November.
Package holders will be treated to five-star hotel accommodation at the Hilton Malta, which is being completely refurbished. A quick breakdown of Battle of Malta 2016:
