PokerListings’ breakout small buy-in, big-value tournament has been nominated for a European Poker Award.
The Battle of Malta is up for the best tournament of the year in the Up to €2,000 Buy-in category.
The tournament will have a chance at winning on home turf as this year’s European Poker Awards will take place at the Hilton in Malta on March 25.
The Battle of Malta will compete in its category against the Estrellas Poker Tour Barcelona, Eureka Poker Tour Prague and WPT500 Dusk Till Dawn.

Record-Breaking Battle of Malta Draws 1,447 in 2014
Since it debuted in 2012 the Battle of Malta has steadily grown with the guaranteed prize pool going from €150,000 to €500,000.
The €550 buy-in event has broken numerous records over the years and last year it became the biggest tournament ever held in Malta when Antoan Katsarov outlasted 1,447 players to win €122,750.
The event has also attracted some of the biggest names in poker including Kara Scott, Maria Ho, Leo Margets, Dan Cates, Dominik Panka, Johnny Lodden, Thor Hansen, Sofia Lovgren and others.
Small buy-in tournaments have begun to flourish since 2012 with WPT500 Dusk Till Dawn attracting 2,133 entries in 2014 and the WSOP set to introduce its first-ever $500 event this summer.
