Colette Doherty, who played the WSOP for the first time in 1980, will head to Malta Sept. 26-29, 2013 for the €200k-guaranteed tournament.
Amazingly Doherty won the Irish Poker Open twice, first in 1980 and again in 1991.
Doherty hasn’t been particularly active on the poker circuit in the last few years so the Battle of Malta will be a good chance for her to prove she can still hang with the young guns.
Last year first place in the Battle of Malta was €35,000 and this year it’s expected to be even more.
Doherty is joining a very diverse lineup at this year’s Battle of Malta.
Poker pros Naoya Kihara, Dan “jungleman12” Cates, Ashton Griffin and Andreas Høivold are scheduled to play along with celebs Puma Swede, The Dudesons and Sasha Daygame.
Kara Scott will return to host the event.
The buy-in is still just €550 and you can register on the Battle of Malta homepage.
