Globetrotting poker media personality Kara Scott will once again host the high-value, player-friendly PokerListings Battle of Malta and as the dates draw closer, she’s already looking forward to heading back.
“I loved the relaxed atmosphere at Battle of Malta last year,” Scott told PokerListings.
“There was the sense that although everyone who played – including me! – wanted to win the event, we were also all there to enjoy ourselves.
“There was a feeling of fun that's sometimes missing from other, bigger buy in events.”
The Party Poker pro will hold court for the entire event, which runs Sept. 26-29, and will appear in PokerListings’ exclusive video coverage doing tournament-floor interviews, special features and hosting the 2013 PokerListings Spirit of Poker Awards.
Back for its second edition the Battle of Malta still only costs €550 to buy-in but features a €200,000 guarantee this time around plus extras including parties, side events and more.
“I'm curious to see what changes this year for the second annual Battle of Malta,” she said.
“Hopefully not too much because I think PokerListings nailed it last year. I particularly loved the super kitsch trophies for the side events and am hoping that I can win one this year.”
BOM Adds €200k GTD, Bootcamp with Cates, Griffin
One new addition this year will be a special coaching Boot Camp that runs Sept. 23-25 and features online poker powerhouses Dan “jungleman12” Cates and Ashton “theASHMAN103” Griffin.
Celebrities attending this year’s BOM including The Dudesons, Puma Swede and the first European woman to play at the WSOP, Colette Doherty.
Always personable and approachable for players new and old, Scott had some advice for people heading to Malta for BOM for the first time.
“Make sure you get outside and enjoy the island,” she said.
“The Maltese people are friendly and they're very proud of their history so ask lots of questions. Get a taxi driver who's happy to drive you somewhere like the old city of Mdina and tell you stories the whole way.”
Registration for the 2013 PokerListings Battle of Malta is still open with full packages including buy-in, hotel and transfers available. To learn more check the Battle of Malta homepage.
